An Essay on Euthanasia - A Critical Part of the Medical Ethics, Humanities, Sociology, Nursing and Law Classes
An Essay on Euthanasia - A Critical Part of the Medical Ethics, Humanities, Sociology, Nursing and Law ClassesAn essay on euthanasia (also known as terminal de- addition) is a critical part of the Medical Ethics, Humanities, Sociology, Nursing and Law classes. Before entering any medical school or college, students should expect to pass an essay exam on euthanasia. It is impossible to predict the reasons for a terminal life and/or death. However, one can see that euthanasia has been accepted by society for centuries. In the United States, for example, euthanasia is practiced by individuals on their own and by their loved ones. In the first place, to end a patient's suffering, the terminally ill person must have been determined not only by his doctors to be terminally ill but also by the family to be mentally competent to decide whether to continue living.Sometimes the patient or their family are not in agreement about the decision to end the patient's life. Then the decision is made b y the person who is responsible for the life or death. The doctor, in the name of duty of care, may end the life of the patient by administering a lethal dose of the doctor's prescription drugs. This practice has been banned by legislation in the United States since 1978, although it still occurs frequently. Many people who have terminal illness suffer from depression or constant anxiety, which can adversely affect their life. It is therefore of utmost importance that the decision to end the patient's life is fully explained to the patient, his or her family, and the other members of the patient's support group. It is commonly held that a terminal illness may be the result of illness, physical impairment, or addiction. Many who suffer from terminal illness fear that ending their lives may be difficult. Such fears are heightened by the possibility that patients may want to continue living. This article presents the following three short answer questions as a guide to the topic of euthan asia. First, how does a person 'become' terminally ill? Second, is terminal illness caused by physical impairment, mental impairment, or some combination of the two?The above questions show that to assume a specific cause of terminal illness is to distort reality. It is not clear that anyone can 'know' that the patient is terminally ill. Rather, a decision to end the patient's life is often made after a consultation with the patient, his/her family, and his/her closest friends. With the help of a sample essay on euthanasia, they can share a true sense of what being terminally ill is like.
